Last Saturday evening saw the opening of the second weekend of this year’s Arenacross UK! The music, fireworks and high-speed filled show delivered incredible free-style performances and tensed race moments!

Following the grand opening bang at Manchester, Glasgow saw a number of team changes and wildcards. The former British MX champ Billy Mackenzie joined Dave Thorpe’s Buildbase Honda team, MVR-D Husqvarna saw Nev Bradshaw’s return and Jason Meara stepped in to replace injured George Clarke racing for RFX St Blazy. Glasgow saw also the strong performance of Cristina Palmer (North of England XC Champion) who stood for herself among the boys and delivered an impressive weekend of racing.

Undoubtedly though Billy Mackenzie was the star for the local crowd returning after a break from Arenacross a few years back. The Scottish ace enjoyed the media attention and took a moment to talk to Daily Record about his current physical shape, his expectations and hopes for his return in the professional racing. You can read more of his interview via Arenacross UK here:

In the Free-style section of the programme Edgar Torronteras took charge of a star studded team to deliver the best of FMX to the crowd. Among the stars we say flipping and flying Petr Pilat (Czech Republic), Steve Sommerfeld (Australia) and UK’s own Bolddog crew members Dan Whitby, Samson Eaton and Aaron Powley.

The Pro Qualifying event saw Thomas Remette with Suzuki rise to the top followed by teammate Cyrille Coulon and Adrien Escoffier with Husqvarna. Florent Richier with Keystone Honda Racing ranked 6th and Adam Chatfield with Buildbase Honda finished 10th. Rather unexpected fall in results for the Honda racers following the podium in Manchester earlier in the month. In the Practice Group 1 rank we can see Chatfield rise to 4th and the Buildbase duo to 7th (Billy MacKenzie) and 8th (Matt Bayliss).

This weekend we have our very own Arenacross Birmingham to be excited about! We hope to see even more MXW Racing suspension on the podium and the rise of the Honda team! Tickets are still available but selling out very fast! If you are attending Arenacross Birmingham why not swing by Motocross World on Saturday to chat to us about our bespoke suspension tuning services and engine modification work?
